NDJAMENA COHORT – CHAD 2025
In a regional context where democracy is in retreat, crises and conflicts are multiplying, and disinformation is on the rise, seriously undermining freedom of expression, freedom of the press and the right to information, the Arc-Côtier et Central Laboratory of the Innovation for Democracy Foundation, in partnership with the Tchadinfos media group, is organising the first edition of a creative programme called the “Pro-Demo Workshop”.
In line with its mission to “equip, capacitate and train”, the Innovation for Democracy Foundation is inaugurating a series of training courses travelling throughout Central Africa and the Great Lakes region, starting in 2025 in Ndjamena, the capital of the Republic of Chad.
I- PRESENTATION OF THE PROGRAMME
The “Atelier Pro – démo“ creation programme is aimed primarily at young journalists, communicators, bloggers and activists, and involves training them in the creation of innovative digital content to promote democracy and good governance in Africa. This training, which is a continuation of the “Bloggers Demo School” programme launched in 2023, aims to strengthen digital innovation in the community of actors of the Arc-Côtier et Central Laboratory. Through the creation of innovative digital content on digital platforms and various networks, the aim of the programme is to contribute to the promotion of democracy and the defence of political and public freedoms in Africa, and to equip players and groups in the Central Africa and Great Lakes sub-region to create podcasts, blogs and pages; manage pages on social networks; fact-checking and the fight against disinformation; community management and digital marketing, among other things. Finally, the programme aims to strengthen the network of actors and groups involved in promoting democracy in the sub-region.
The “Atelier Pro – démo” creation programme will consist of a “permanent workshop” to support the creation of innovative digital content in Central Africa through capacity-building, mentoring, experimentation and the dissemination of information. It offers an exclusive opportunity for support, coaching and mentoring for the young prize-winners, with the aim of building a critical mass of experts to defend the principles and values of democracy.
II- ORIGINALITY OF THE PROGRAMME
The originality of this programme lies in the fact that it is designed to train young journalists, communicators, bloggers and activists, i.e. young women and men involved in civic, public and political debate; information and communication initiatives and projects, with the ambition of playing a leading role in the political life of their countries and, more specifically, young people wishing to be equipped to create innovative digital content in the service of democracy and good governance.
